How To: Get Easy Glam Makeup!

So what you’re not a makeup Guru or any type of professional makeup artist! The truth is, you don’t have to be. Applying basic eyeshadows is pretty easy after a couple of tries.  What makes the look professional and glam are the kinds of shades and finishes.  No, no, this will not be an eyeshadow lesson or post about the different kinds of shadows and finishes. But I will give you a basic overview or rundown.  This post outlines the list of products I used in my Easy Beginner Glam Makeup Tutorial featuring Makeup Geek’s Starter Kit Z-Palette Bundle.  

Mattes, Satin and Shimmer Finishes

Eyeshadows have different finishes and textures for different effects. Mattes are a beginners friend and an expert's dream. You can always pull off well polished looks with strictly matte finishes. For experts, it's the go to finish to create depth and dimension on the eye. It will take your look from board room to high fashion in a blink, wink, wink. Matte means dull, flat and without shine. Satin finishes have a slight sheen to them. It's in between the matte and shimmer. Satin's offer another dimension to the eye by making the color stand out a little bit more. It's not over powering, but just enough to illuminate the eye and make it glow. Shimmers have a completely different effect. They're the quintessential to the glamorous look. It is your go to for date night, night out, gala, prom, formal attire events of course you can wear any combination for any reason, at any time. Placement: Mattes work well anywhere on the eye, under the brow bone, as a transition and crease shades and on the lids. Satins and shimmers work better on the lid and as a highlight shade. You can also place them at the front of the eye for brightening effect and in the inner corner of the eye to open the appearance of the eye.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows

I am actually very, very glad I invested in this 9-shadow neutral, everyday, multi-use palette.  It has just enough mattes and shimmers of varying hues to make the most basic to va-va-voom makeup looks.  This palette contains only mattes and shimmers of high end quality pigments at a mid-level, affordable price.  With the long lasting, vibrant color, smooth finishes, and great range of neutral color choices, this palette is a win - win.  Compared to MAC, which in my opinion is the most commonly purchased department store, high end cosmetics line among working and middle class women, you can’t beat this price.  MAC offers custom palettes where a 4 pan is about $48 and a 6 pan is $96.  9 full sized Makeup Geek shadows for $62 is pretty worth the investment.
